Erika’s Surly Ghost Grappler (XS)

Erika has been riding a Salsa Journeyer Apex for the last few years alongside her mtb, but this year her partner, Oliver bought surprised her with a Grappler frameset and thus our first custom Grappler build begun! Erika is well known in the cycling community as the friendliest, raddest, rider around and we feel very privileged to be the shop her and Oli chose to run this project. Erika is a fervent bikepacker and gravel rider and this build is going to be one big step from their current Journeyer setup! This build boasts hand built wheels - a Shutter Precision dynamo hub up front, Bitex in the back, and they’re laced up to Boyd Kanuga 29’er rims. The front light is the Kasai Trailbeam which both works as a charger and a light. The basket and rack are from Oli’s old build. Erika went with the tried and true Rival 1x11 wide-range drive train and the left shifter activates their dropper post. Grappler runs both 27.5 x2.8” tires and 29 x 2.2” so in this iteration they’ll be running Rene Herse Fleecer Ridge 29x2.2” tires, a favourite amongst the KCC staff. Fit components are Pro Discover and the saddle is the venerable Brooks C17. Thanks again Erika for working with us at KCC. We hope you love your new ride!

Happy pedalling out there!
