Matt’s All-City Gorilla Monsoon (52cm)

!!! Staff bike alert! So what we have here is Matt’s custom, raw, and patinated All-City Gorilla Monsoon (fondly nicknamed the Gordito Baboon.) When Matt was cooking up ideas for this bike he wanted the ultimate, practical, do-it-all ride. Whether for commuting, grocery getting, dirt rippin’, road riding, or camping, this bike was designed to do handle it all. Aside from the rat-rod aesthetic, this thing has some cool lil bits to note. The ol’ Baboon features White industries MR30 crank and Shimano Deore XT PD-T8000 pedals (for clipless or flat soled shoes.) Up top the bike features a PRO + Whisky carbon cockpit. At the front of the cockpit he’s got some White Industries spacers and Simworks spacers sitting on top of a classic Velo Orange headset and, of course, a titanium Stridsland top cap to spice things up a bit. The wheelset features the Stan’s Arch rim x Shutter Precision dynamo front hub and a Tairin Shogun rear hub all laced together using Sapim Race spokes and some SimWorks x Hoshi raw brass nipples. For the tires he’s got the Pirelli Cinturato Gravel M tanwall setup tubeless with some Muc-Off valves for a fun pop of colour. Matt runs a Sram GX 10 speed shifter paired to a Sram Apex 11 speed rear derailleur, a Shimano Deore 10 speed cassette, and a gold KMC Titanium Nitrite chain. 10 speed ain’t dead! We love a 1x build because it’s money saver up-front and there’s just fewer parts to maintain in the future. Brakes-wise he’s got some cheap and cheerful Shimano BL-MT201 + BR-UR300 levers and calipers. The mixing of Shimano and Sram might make some purists dry-heave a little, but that’s how Matt likes it! As for accessories he’s got a dynamo front light, a Blue Lug Koma rear USB light, a Nitto M-18 front rack, the classic Wald 137 basket, the Swift Industries Sugarloaf basket bag, and that’s it! So if you’ve got some ideas for a custom build, whether it’s a grocery getter, or gravel race rig, or anything in-between, Matt’s down to make that vision a reality. Feel free to reach out anytime! Matt and the custom program team are always happy to help!

Happy pedalling out there!
